The Born To Lose Motorcycle Network

Metallica, may 2004

Sunday the 30th of may 2004 we went to Gothenburg to see Metallica on stage at Ullevi stadium!

Actually, the concert (or at least the sound) was crap from where we had our seats (although the press says this was the best concert in ages…) – we even left before the concert was over to go drink som more beers instead… We soon found out that the sound was better from outside the stadium compared to where we were sitting…

The trip itself however was great fun! It was me (Claes) and Stefan from Linköping, Krister from Eskilstuna, Hasse from Ludvika and Jörgen from Karlstad. After some optimism about getting to the gathering point in time and a really poor sense of  knowing where you are we finally met in Askersund before we drove to Mariestad to pick up Jörgen we continued to Gothenburg where we also met up with Calle. But no trip without incidents when we´re involved…

Same guy, same problem, different bike… Stefans battery called it in  - again. With some juice from Claes´s bike we got rolling again. This procedure had to be repeated every time we stopped for the rest of the journey to Gothenburg (and back to Linköping the following day!)…

Stefan again… This time he ran out of gas! Time for Claes to step in once again – I´ve got a HUGE gastank!

After this it was time for Jörgen – he gladly (?) discovered that his Sportster doesn´t drink that much petrol – this resulted in a classic case of overfilling, with very expensive drops of gas on the ground…

And, finally the whole gang just before departure from the Kålltorp firedepartment (where Calle used to work)  where our bikes had been parked during the night of the concert – we were not going to allow 55 000 headbangers to play with our toys in the middle of Gothenburg!

This was a brief but fun little adventure! Thank´s to Patrik (Kristers brother) and Megan for letting a bunch of sweaty bikers eat, drink and sleep in your apartement - you deserve a couple of medals…
