2002 Dalarna
Dalarna 10th to 12th of may 2002
Well, our second trip together had the destination Ludvika, Dalarna. This time the gods were on our side weatherwise,
at least to begin with…
On Friday the 10th of may 2002 we set for Örebro, which was our gathering point ´til the final trip for Ludvika. Calle started out the evening before from Göteborg and arrived to Linköping just before bedtime. He made it through some rain
and 8 degrees celsius, but was rewarded with a large scotch at the arrival!
Early on friday morning, me (Claes), Calle and Stefan left Linköping for Örebro. We had a lovely trip through the forests of Östergötland with the sun shining on us all the way! We all had decided to meet at a McDonald´s in Örebro, and the three horsemen from the south arrived there first on their Harleys (Claes and Stefan) and a Yamaha 650 Drag Star (Calle). We had just gotten our burgers when Krister arrived from Eskilstuna on his customized Yamaha XS 650. New features for this season was the pepita-squares, a new Crocker-taillight and some other stuff – looks pretty cool!
As we were sitting there waiting for Jörgen from Karlstad, Chrille came out from nowhere on his Triumph Legend! He wasn´t supposed to come so we all were a bit surprised to see him! Chrille was supposed to greet us at his house in Ludvika at the final destination, with dinner and beer ready, but luckily his brother (Pärra from Out of order MC) was made chief over the grub since he arrived earlier that morning (the chicken, salsa and boiled potatoes were delicious by the way!).
After a while, Jörgen came to Örebro too. Apparently he had fallen asleep on his sofa in Karlstad, but luckily, Jörgen rides
a Sportster so he made it to Örebro in time!
After this, the six of us headed out on the highway together. We had a very nice trip the last 120 km´s or so to Ludvika,
where we immediately dug in to the food and the beer. By now, Chrille´s friend Hasse (who also participated at our first
gathering in Linköping the year before) had joined us.
The afternoon/evening was great since we hadn´t seen eachother for quite a long time. The main project during the evening was to get Chrille´s old BSA to start. After a bit of work the old Beeza came to life! Some of us immediately noticed that the bike only ran on one cylinder, only to realize in the next second that there is only ONE cylinder- there you go… Unfortunately it was made clear that the valve cover had a big hole in it (which had been ”fixed” with tape from the
previous owner?!) which resulted in oil everywhere except IN the BSA-engine…
Anyhow, we listened to music and drank some beer ´til it was time for the sack – we had a long trip to do the next day so
we needed to be somewhat ready to drive pretty early on Saturday morning.
Pärra and Jörgen decided to head for home (Karlstad) on the morning – Pärra had to be present on a party his club was
arranging on Saturday evening, and Jörgen had to take care of his kids. We waved them good bye just after breakfast, and started to get ready ourselves for some adventures on the roads of Dalarna.
So, after a while we (Chrille, Claes, Calle, Stefan and Krister) did our best to awake the neighbours and eventually hit the road. First we went to Borlänge for a visit at the local Triumph-dealer – Chrille needed some new spark plugs. After that we went up to Leksand. We had our first cup of coffee on the top of Tällberg, where we had a magnificent view of the lake Siljan. Still the sun showed itself in its brilliance (which some of us later on where to be reminded of in the form of sunburned noses…). After this we headed for Mora, but never reached there since we turned for Vansbro just before Mora.
In the middle of nowhere when we stopped for a smoke, we began talking about trying eachothers bikes, but the only ones who did so where Chrille and Claes – Chrille continued the trip on Claes´ Harley and Claes had a REALLY nice time on the Triumph (that´s a rocket compared to the old Softail!). Stefan offered anyone who wanted to try his Panhead long-fork with suicide clutch – no one dared…
Anyway, we arrived at Vansbro just in time to see a motormarket/-fair close, so we just rested our butts a couple of minutes before we took to the road again. Just outside of Ludvika on the way ”home”, we saw a fair with rides and all from the road – this had to be looked into! No rides on the carousells for us this time, but a cup of coffee at the local club Bierrkens MC. Back at Ludvika, Stefan, Calle and Claes stopped at the store and bought all the necessary ingredients for the evenings barbecue – burgers again!
Krister decided to ride home to Eskilstuna on the evening since he had some work to do on sunday, while the rest of us ate and drank more beer. Hasse joined us once again on the evening with more beer (we drank more than planned the evening before…). We had another pleasant evening with beer and music ´til we hit the sack, more or less drunk and more or less exhausted from the 400 km´s of bikeriding during the day.
On the Sunday morning, Claes, Calle and Stefan hit for the south of Sweden again. We made it back to Örebro with good
weather, but from then on the rain poured down on us. As usual we didn´t stop for rain-wear (the motorcyclist syndrome
– ”the rain will pass soon…”), which of course resulted in us being wet to the bone…
We made it to Berg just outside Linköping, where we stopped for a well-earned pizza. After this, Stefan and Claes went home to Linköping while Calle headed for Göteborg – another 280 km´s (Calle by the way, won the award for ”longest trip” this weekend – some 1400 km´s on his 650 cc Drag Star – that´s what I call a real biker!).
That´s it for now folks – the plans now are to visit Göteborg, Eskilstuna and perhaps Norway before the summer of 2002 is over!

I wonder why so many people like to comment stuff. Why is this kind of spending your free time so popular? Maybe people have a lack of communication in real world? Maybe that’s because they have a lot of problems in reality and want to run away from them? Maybe they need new impressions and experience? Or they just got suck here? I don’t have a clue. What do you all think?
