2001 Sommen runt
Sommen runt (the 8th of september 2001)
Well, our first gathering took place in Linköping, Sweden, a VERY rainy weekend in september. The ones who participated were Claes (at whose house everyone slept), Chrille, Calle, Stefan, Krister and Chrilles friend Hasse.
The guys arrived late on friday afternoon. Chrille and Hasse came from Ludvika, Calle from Gothenburg and Krister from Eskilstuna. Stefan who also is a resident of Linköping spent the evening with his family while the rest of us ate some chilli and drank some beer.
The morning after, Stefan and us others met at a gas station close to where the run was to start. We were first of course, and the rain poured down… Would there be any others? Yes! After a while several bikes turned up, and when we left Linköping there were about 60-70 bikes all in all.
After a while the rain didn´t bother us any more (when you´re wet, you´re wet…) although Chrille repeatedly reminded us of the rain by pointing out what a great “protection” against the rain HE was wearing…
Anyway, we rode our bikes the whole day through more or less rain. In the afternoon we began to freeze a little bit, and we were out of coffee, so we began our trip back to Linköping for whatever the evening would bring (see this map for the whole trip).
First we stopped at a gas station in Kisa when it poured down more than much, but after a couple of minutes we decided to defy the rain for the last 60 km´s home to Linköping. At some points however, we couldn´t run faster than 60 km/h due to the rain (we couldn´t see the road!). Before we made it home to Claes in Slaka, Linköping, we made a stop at Åhyddan MC for a quick break. After this, we drank some more coffee at Stefans club Ghost Riders MC.
Finally home! The heroes were somewhat tired by now - Chrille, Calle and Krister took a nap while Claes and Hasse watched some football on TV with beercans in our hands (the reward after a whole day in the saddle!). Stefan came after a while, and he brought food!
While the sauna was warming our cold bodies, Krister took mercy on the rest of us and prepared dinner! After this we turned on the stereo and brought out the rest of the beer. The night ended quickly for some of us and later for others…To conclude, a GREAT weekend which promised more to come!
We decided to make the next trip together in the early spring of 2002. The thoughts so far are either on the west coast of Sweden or in the surroundings of Ludvika in Dalarna.
